CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — The newly designated chief of the Central Luzon police will assume the post today.
Brig. Gen. Mathew Baccay will replace Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon, who was transferred to the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters at Camp Crame.
De Leon is reportedly eyeing the top PNP post.
Baccay served as chief of the regional police’s logistics resources development division when retired Brig. Gen. Edgardo Ladao was Central Luzon police director.
Baccay is a member of the Philippine Military Class of 1992.
