House Majority Leader tests positive for COVID-19

House Majority Leader and Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez said he tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

“Today, I received the result of my RT-PCR test showing that I am positive for COVID-19. I am scheduled to undergo a second test tomorrow (Thursday) to rule out a false positive result,” Romualdez said in a Facebook post.

“I urge everyone who had close contact with me to undergo RT-PCR test,” he added.

Romualdez said he was coping well and was in high spirits despite experiencing symptoms of the disease.

“I am presently in isolation, and my doctor is closely monitoring my situation. Rest assured that I will go back to work and perform my duties as Majority Leader of the House of Representatives as soon as I get a clean bill of health from health authorities,” he said.

“Please include in your prayers all those who serve in the frontline to deliver the much-needed services to our people. Our compassion for each other and concern for our fellowmen are the key that will help us get through these difficult times,” Romualdez added.

As of Tuesday, the House of Representatives logged 29 active cases.
