What to Know

The Atlanta Hawks’ road trip will continue as they head to Golden 1 Center at 10 p.m. ET on Wednesday to face off against the Sacramento Kings. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they’ll have plenty of motivation to get the ‘W.’

Atlanta was within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap on Monday as they fell 136-131 to the Portland Trail Blazers. Point guard Trae Young did his best for the Hawks, finishing with 56 points (a whopping 43% of their total) and 14 assists. That’s the third consecutive contest in which Young has had at least 11 assists. Young’s points were the most he has had all season.

Meanwhile, Sacramento came up short against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, falling 122-114. The Kings’ defeat shouldn’t obscure the performances of shooting guard Buddy Hield, who shot 7-for-13 from downtown and finished with 26 points and five rebounds, and point guard De’Aaron Fox, who had 30 points and six assists.

The Hawks are expected to win this handily, but they should have beaten the Houston Rockets Dec. 13 easily too and instead slipped up with a 132-126. In other words, don’t count Sacramento out just yet.
