MANILA, Philippines — The consortium of Manila Water Co. Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary Manila Water Philippine Ventures Inc. (MWPV), has received a notice of award for a bulk water supply project in the province of Pangasinan.
In a statement, Manila Water said the provincial government of Pangasinan has presented the notice of award for the development, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of a bulk water facility to the consortium.
Manila Water expects to invest P8 billion over the 25-year contract duration for the implementation of capital expenditure programs that will increase water supply in the province.
“Upon completion of conditions precedent, Manila Water’s consortium will sign a concession agreement with the provincial government to implement the development of the bulk water supply project that will provide as much as 200 million liters of water per day by year 25,” Manila Water said.
Manila Water serves more than seven million people in the East Zone of Metro Manila and Rizal province.
In contrast, its subsidiary MWPV operates bulk water supply projects in the Province of Cebu and in Tagum, Davao del Norte as well as provides water and wastewater services in other key metropolitan areas which include Batangas, Laguna, Bulacan, Pampanga, Boracay, Iloilo, and Samar, among others.
Meanwhile, Manila Water said it had signed an amendment to its revised concession agreement with the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System.
Among the amendments made in the RCA include the revision of the effective date from “not to exceed six months from signing of the RCA or Sept. 30, 2021” to “no later than Nov. 18, 2021.”
In addition, the review and amendment of the Common Purpose Facilities Agreement dated July 31, 1997 was revised from “within six months from the signing of the Revised Concession Agreement or Sept. 30, 2021” to “no later than Nov. 18, 2021.
The RCA allows the company to serve the East Zone until 2037.
