NCRPO, Lalamove join forces vs crime, drugs
In a statement, NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said the Metro Manila police signed a memorandum of understanding with the firm on Monday.
“Both parties (would) cooperate with each other to assist the government in its effort to eliminate dangerous drugs in the country and to fight all forms of criminality, terrorism and other illegal activities,” he said.
They would also “synchronize efforts to prevent the delivery or transportation of packages containing any illegal drugs and controlled precursors and essential chemicals in the country,” Danao added.
The agreement would ensure that drivers would not be involved in any illegal activity, he said.
Danao said the NCRPO would be willing to train accredited riders in detecting illegal drugs and improvised explosive devices “to make sure that the items they are delivering are legitimate.”
P3.4 million shabu seized in Caloocan sting
Meanwhile, around 500 grams of shabu valued at P3.4 million were confiscated from a suspected drug dealer in Caloocan City on Monday.
The drugs were found in the possession of Jovit dela Cruz, 27, who was
arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in
Barangay 185 at around 2 p.m.
The suspect reportedly sold the drugs to an undercover PDEA agent, who immediately placed him under arrest.
Dela Cruz, who is being held on charges of drug trafficking, claimed a neighbor whom he did not identify instructed him to deliver the illegal drugs in exchange for P5,000.
